Building connections for a stronger society

For over 10 years, SINGA has championed a simple yet powerful belief: societies grow stronger when every individual, no matter where they come from, can find their place and thrive.

What is SINGA?

While some focus on dividing, SINGA focuses on connecting—bridging the gap between newcomers and locals to promote inclusion and reshape views on migration. The inclusion of newcomers is a benefit to all.

Founded in 2012, SINGA is an international organization dedicated to accelerating the inclusion of newcomers (refugees, asylum seekers) to create societies that are more united, creative, and prosperous. Today, SINGA connects over 80,000 members across Europe and North America, spanning 7 countries and 17 cities.

Every day, SINGA enables thousands of people to meet and collaborate across 4 main programs:

  • Entrepreneurial support: Empowering both locals and newcomers to develop their entrepreneurial and community-driven projects.
  • Shared activities: Fostering connections through shared passions—art, cooking, sports, culture, solidarity.
  • Citizen hosting: Offering newcomers sustainable housing through co-living experiences that foster inclusion.
  • Consulting & Advocacy: Raising awareness and supporting organizations in their inclusion and intercultural initiatives.

The world we want to build

Over the last decade, forced displacement has doubled, now affecting 1% of the global population. International migration has surged by 60% in 30 years. With migration increasing—especially due to climate change—we must adopt inclusive approaches.

It’s time to stop viewing migration as a problem or a temporary crisis and instead see it as a structural opportunity. Studies from the UNHCR, OECD, and World Bank agree that migration benefits host countries. Newcomers bring experiences, skills, and perspectives that spark creativity, innovation, and solutions.

At SINGA, we work to show that an inclusive society is a stronger society. Many companies, coalitions, and thousands of citizens already stand with us. But for lasting change, we need clear support from European institutions and governments. We believe that this shift relies on citizen mobilization, and we are committed to scaling up our impact to build a society that’s both creative and inclusive. Join us!

What if the world embraced a more mobile humanity, responsive to environmental and social shifts? What if every global citizen were not confined to a single nationality, but had a plural, dynamic identity? What if we recognized the experiences, knowledge, and talents of every individual?

The SINGA glossary

Newcomer

At SINGA, we avoid terms like “migrant” or “refugee,” which often carry limiting or negative connotations. We prefer “newcomer,” focusing on the individual and their potential. A newcomer is someone recently arrived in a territory, actively seeking to contribute and connect professionally and socially. This term reflects a positive, dynamic approach to inclusion.

Local

A local, in SINGA’s terms, is anyone who has lived in a territory for a certain time, with or without citizenship. Locals and newcomers connect daily, sharing networks and insights on daily or professional life while learning from diverse newcomer experiences. These interactions build bridges and foster inclusion.

Community Member

At SINGA, we don’t use the term “beneficiary.” We emphasize a peer-to-peer approach, treating everyone, newcomer or local, as a full community member. We believe strongly in co-creation: we don’t work for newcomers but with them. This approach values everyone’s skills and talents, encouraging mutual trust and learning.
