On September 19, 2024, at Théâtre de la Verrière, SINGA Lille and Entourage brought together over 120 people for the second edition of INSPIRE in Lille. An evening where art, culture, and personal stories intertwined to offer a fresh perspective on migration, far beyond the often simplistic media narratives.

INSPIRE : a festive event celebrating interculturality

In a context where debates on migration are becoming increasingly tense, this event provided a breath of fresh air. It served as a reminder that behind every migration journey, there are unique stories, dreams, struggles, and an invaluable cultural richness.

The evening took participants on a journey through different worlds—from comedy performances to deeply moving life stories, from joyful dance to powerful theatrical scenes. INSPIRE offered an experience where art became a universal language, capable of touching hearts, bringing people together, and fostering unity.

Performances that reveal the power of inclusion

Comedian Wary Nichen skillfully set the tone for the evening with humor and depth. Through his jokes, he shed light on the complexity of the realities faced by newcomers in France. His message: beyond differences, there are shared emotions, common struggles, and above all, an immense potential to learn from one another.

Bagadi Alnour, a former SINGA Lille incubatee, then captivated the audience with his personal story. More than just a testimony, his journey was living proof that welcome and mutual support can transform lives. With humility, he spoke about language barriers but, above all, the strength of human connections that helped him rebuild and move forward.

Virginie Lopvet, trainer and facilitator, explored the depths of cultural identity, reminding us that even far from home, our culture shapes us and remains an inalienable part of who we are.

Culture as a tool for changing narratives

Music and dance took over with the group Salam, creating a magical moment. The rhythms, blending various influences, showcased how culture is a powerful tool for connection. In every note, every movement, there was a message: diversity is not a barrier; it is a force that makes societies thrive.

The theater play directed by Cathy Guillemin added a final touch of raw emotion. Real testimonies, performed on stage by members of SINGA Lille and Entourage, revealed the invisible challenges faced by those who leave their home countries. Every scene, every word, every silence told a story of struggle—but also of resilience. This closing act left the audience in deep reflection, with one essential question: what if inclusion was the path to a fairer and more humane society?

A manifesto for an open and plural society

The INSPIRE by SINGA format is therefore not just an evening of exchanges or artistic performances. It is a manifesto for a more inclusive society, a celebration of diversity that enriches our shared humanity.

This type of event shows that we need spaces where we can deconstruct prejudices, where personal stories replace cold statistics, and where cultures meet to create something new, beautiful, and powerful. Because we all have a role to play in building a more inclusive, more welcoming world, where everyone finds their place.
