In Toulouse, a documentary by SINGA explores hospitality as both a human and a collective experience

On February 10 2026, SINGA Toulouse presented the documentary Les Liens de la Migration during an evening event which combined a screening, a discussion, and a meet-and-greet. More than just a film, this initiative sought to rethink the concept of welcoming not merely as a matter of housing or administration, but as a relationship that transforms both people and territories.

On February 10, SINGA Toulouse hosted an evening event  centered around the screening of the documentary Les Liens de la Migration. Through this screening, the SINGA Toulouse team sought to create a space for collective reflection on a question that is often oversimplified in public discourse : what does “welcoming” really mean ?

A documentary based on real-life encounters

The documentary Les Liens de la Migration was co-created during five workshops bringing together local residents, refugees, and asylum seekers living in Toulouse. Together, the participants shared their stories of friendship, mutual support, and at times loneliness, but also of reconstruction and mutual transformation.

The film highlights journeys where inclusion is achieved not only through administrative or institutional measures, but also through concrete, everyday encounters.

As Mustafa says in the documentary:

“When I arrived here, I was living on the streets. It was Nadine, the president of SINGA Toulouse, who told me about SINGA. Thanks to her, I met a lot of people. And today, I work with the director I met there, and I’ve made friends.”

Create spaces where connections can form

The evening continued with a friendly moment, in keeping with the approach SINGA Toulouse has fostered since its inception : extending the discussions through the gathering itself.

Because at the heart of SINGA’s project lies a simple conviction : connections cannot be imposed. They are built in tangible spaces where people from different backgrounds can truly come together.

Since its creation, SINGA Toulouse has brought together more than 200 locals and newcomers through intercultural activities. More than 30 nationalities are represented within the community, which now has over 300 members.

Beyond the numbers, these initiatives reflect a core approach: creating situations where relationships can develop naturally, without assigning people to rigid roles as “helpers” or “those being helped.”

Changing perceptions at the local level

With Les Liens de la Migration, SINGA Toulouse continues the work it has been committed to for several years : creating narratives which offer a different perspective on migration.

This documentary shows what becomes possible when life paths cease to run parallel and begin to intertwine.
