On March 21 and 22, SINGA Luxembourg participated to the Festival of Migration, Cultures, and Citizenship, organized by CLAE in Luxembourg City.
A must-attend event in Luxembourg’s community and cultural life, the festival brings together each year hundreds of associations, citizen initiatives, discussion forums, cultural stages and cuisines from around the world. More than 400 booths stand together in an atmosphere that is festive, engaged, and deeply intercultural.
SINGA Luxembourg participated in the festival with a simple goal : to foster meaningful dialogue about migration realities and introduce to the general public its initiatives.
For two days, volunteers and team members ran a booth featuring interactive games, awareness-raising and discussions with visitors.
The goal was not only to distribute informations, but also to foster accessible and participatory conversations about topics that are often little known.
Two interactive devices were offered in French and English.
The first invited participants to explore the different legal statuses related to international protection in Luxembourg (international protection, subsidiary protection or tolerance) by matching each with its corresponding rights and obligations.
The second took the form of a language challenge around the languages spoken by people seeking international protection. Visitors were invited to identify and translate sentences in dari, tigrinya, arabic, or pashto.
These formats may have seemed simple, but they sparked numerous discussions about the journeys of exile, the administrative realities, and the language barriers encountered upon the arrival in a new country.
Beyond the events, the festival also gave the association an opportunity to present its programs and activities to an audience sometimes unfamiliar with SINGA.
Flyers, informal conversations and discussions about community-led projects set the tone for the weekend.
In particular, the team presented its initiatives around :
Many visitors discovered the association for the first time, while others left with a desire to join the activities, become volunteers, or financially support the projects. To discover or learn more about SINGA Luxembourg > https://www.singaluxembourg.lu
